How Liverpool could line up next season

The Reds are definitely going to be title contenders next season with their reinforced midfield…

Liverpool’s relatively successful season came to an end with Klopp’s men bowing out to Real Madrid in the final of the UEFA Champions League. They may have lost the game, but the dream is still alive going forward as The Reds are determined to be stronger next season. The club has already put the defeat behind them and kicked off their transfer dealings with the signing of Fabinho from Monaco in a deal worth up to €50 million.

The Brazilian international will be joined at Anfield by Naby Keita – who was was signed last summer from RB Leipzig for a fee of around £48 million. Keita and Fabinho are going to fill the void left behind by Emre Can, who is destined to leave for Juventus this summer. Liverpool’s midfield is going to gain some much-needed depth as they already have Wijnaldum, Milner, Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Henderson in their ranks.

The club has also been prolific in front of goal, but they will be looking to sign a new goalkeeper who can complement the defence at crucial moments. We saw last weekend that Liverpool were exceptional in the attacking third against Real Madrid, but two huge errors from Karius ultimately cost them the game. Klopp needs to focus on acquiring a reliable goalkeeper this summer if his team are to compete at the highest level.

It has been a tough week for the The Reds, but Klopp’s active approach in the transfer market is sending out a message to his competitors as the German is clealry targeting silverware next season. Despite tasting defeat in the Champions League final and losing Salah to injury after such a stellar campaign, there is a silver lining amid all the chaos. Liverpool will fight back stronger than ever with the arrival of their summer signings, and a wave of optimism will hopefully consume the players.

The battle for the starting XI will be on as seven midfielders will be working to carve out a place for themselves in the line-up. Klopp can only only start three of them as his most trusted formation is the 4-3-3, which allows him to use Mane, Firmino, and Salah in attack. The fans are with Klopp and the Merseyside club will surely be much stronger next season if they continue to reinforce and learn from their mistakes.

Expected XI (with current squad): Karius; Alexander-Arnold, Lovren, Van-Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Keita, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Mane, Salah, Firmino
