The hype never dies for the Pakistan Super League, and fans are already awaiting the next season…
By bringing international cricket back to Karachi, this year’s edition of the Pakistan Super League was the best so far. Emotions soared high, with the stars present in our stadiums instead of being limited only to the television screens – and it was all truly bombastic.
In 2019, the excitement is going to hit its peak as a lot more players might be seen in action – after all, eight PSL matches are to be hosted in Pakistan. Karachi and Lahore will not be the only cities to host the matches either, as Multan or Rawalpindi’s locals will also enjoy the matches (subject to stadium renovations).
According to previous reports, the whole PSL was expected to be played in Pakistan – however, the recent meeting with the Emirates Cricket Board has further strengthened the ties between the two boards, and the change was announced. The ECB will not host any league or international matches up to 25 days before the PSL. As a growing brand, the title sponsorship and broadcasting bids are expected to open soon, with HBL’s deal three-year on the verge of expiration.

The league, as promised, always brings the best cricket stars in action – yet we want some more big names in the league. AB de Villiers, who recently announced his retirement from international cricket, will hopefully sign up for the draft, along with David Miller, David Warner, Glenn Maxwell, and multiple other stars.
The Pakistan Super League is undeniably the second most esteemed league following the IPL, and it seems the fan-following may eventually take it to the top of the list. Modern technologies like fan parks could also be introduced, along with a few other surprises. With the draft scheduled in November, the excitement is already piling up as the retention windows are almost about to open.
