WWE’s Women’s Revolution turns to Evolution

After making wrestling history and breaking record after record, the women of WWE are at it again, this time being awarded their very own all-female pay-per-view event, to be held on October 28 at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York.

From cringe-worthy bra-and-panties matches in the ‘ruthless aggression’ era to brutal hell-in-a-cell matches and street fights in recent years, a lot has changed in the way WWE now looks at women’s wrestling. Admittedly, other companies like Shimmer in Japan have being doing this for a while now but the reason that this is huge is because the biggest wrestling promotion in the world is now finally going to do it as well.

So far, WWE has announced that all possible women’s championships will be up for grabs at the October event. That means the RAW Women’s championship, current champion Alexa Bliss, the Smackdown Women’s championship, current champion Carmella, and the NXT Women’s championship, current champion Shayna Baszler, will all be defended. Furthermore, the final of the upcoming second edition of the Mae Young Classic will also take place on October 28th. Also, if rumours are to be believed, this won’t be all as WWE may be considering adding a women’s tag-team division and titles which may be inaugurated at the all-women PPV.

Apart from all the gold being on the line, the returns of many legends of the past are also being discussed, with Mickie James challenging Trish Stratus to another match in what would be the renewal of one of the greatest women feuds in WWE’s history. Other high-profile matches currently being kept under wraps could be Bayley and Sasha Banks finally boiling over into another instant classic while Becky Lynch and Charlotte could breathe life into their rivalry in a friendly battle over who is the better woman.

The women of WWE have been stealing the show for quite some time now with Charlotte, Becky, and Sasha’s triple threat at WrestleMania 32 in 2016 considered by many to be the best match on the show that night. This is another massive leap forward by the WWE towards empowering women and giving them an equal stage to perform and show what they can do.
