WWE TLC 2018: Ratings, Implications & Beyond

Randy Orton has never been staler

Randy Orton’s push has felt very restricted because it lacks a lot of focus from the writers. Partial blame could be attributed to Orton’s fewer PPV appearances this year. However, most of the blame lies on the lack of character evolution. It almost feels like Randy Orton has not grown in the past decade. He comes out, gives the same old speech and attacks a random veteran. Shades of Legend Killer. However, his motivation for attacks is starting to feel very ridiculous lately, especially since his end goal is still unknown. Hopefully, he can be done with Rey Mysterio by the Royal Rumble before moving on to a legitimate competitor at WrestleMania: AJ Styles.

A rivalry with AJ Styles would not only bring the much-needed spotlight on Orton, but would also give AJ Styles someone with relevance to work with for WrestleMania. We have only seen this match-up once in 2017, but a feud between the two is just too good to be ignored. Both superstars are veterans in the ring and a big-time match at WrestleMania would just be a dream come true. A rivalry with AJ Styles would also allow Orton to work with a fresher opponent, thereby motivating him to further evolve his character.

WrestleMania Prediction:

  • Randy Orton vs. AJ Styles
