WWE TLC 2018: Preview and Predictions

3. Elias vs. Bobby Lashley – Ladder Match

This rivalry is all about egos. Bobby Lashley believes he has the best physique while Elias keeps on getting interrupted by the annoying Lio Rush. Even though WWE tried to generate interest in the feud by having Lashley decimate Elias on the first RAW post Survivor Series, it still fails to adequately entice the audience as the two have crossed paths very frequently – going all the way back to the RAW after Wrestlemania.

Who needs the victory more: This is a hard call because Bobby Lashley, being the monster that he is, shouldn’t lose singles matches as often as he does. He’s already lost to Seth Rollins at Crown Jewel and to Roman Reigns at RAW, losing out on a title-shot at SummerSlam. On the other hand, Elias has just turned baby-face and really needs to gain some momentum with a big victory. Taking Elias’ marketability into account and Lashley’s status as just another monster on RAW, it would be fair to saw the former needs this victory more at WWE TLC.

Prediction: I suspected that Bobby Lashley would win in a singles’ match via disqualifcation or distraction from Lio Rush. However, the WWE has now changed the stipulation to a ladder match with a guitar hanging over the ring. I still feel Lashley will win the match, but he won’t be the one to take down the guitar. In fact, Elias will be the one to take it out and smash it over Lashley’s back. Even so, Elias should lose via pin-fall after Lio Rush makes an unwelcome appearance.

Match Rating Prediction: 1.5 out of 5 – Neither of the wrestlers are known for their in-ring work and hence, from that perspective, this match should be below-average at best. Expect this to be similar to HHH vs. Kevin Nash at TLC 2011.
